Museum Day :)

Today we went to The Israel Museum as well as Bible Land Museum. We had a great dinner then a good walk home. It was a full day and we had a lot of fun! Get ready for A LOT of pictures! 

 Cari likes to take many pictures along the way, always keeping things lively.

 A nice thing about walking in Jerusalem is the beautiful flowers and views all around.

First stop Bible Land Museum :)

 This museum is full of artifacts found in archeological sites in and around Israel.

The first room contained pottery work from the early Greek peoples, namely the Minoans and Mycenaen civilizations.

 The museum floor plan followed the chronological time periods of the region starting with the first signs of civilization. Because of the guided tours, Cari and I did not go in this order.

 This is a model of Jerusalem during the First Temple time period, not even close to the size of the model below.

 

 This is an aerial view of the ancient city of Babylon. (I think it is based on the city in the 7-6 century BCE).

 The Italian Peninsula around the birth of Rome (753 BCE).

 Couldn't resist.. it as wallpaper though.. Kind of a bummer haha

This is the Nuremberg Machzor (prayer book for the holidays), from southern Germany, 1331.

 The De Castro Pentateuch (Chumash) from Germany, 1344.

 The museum also had Haggadahs and other pieces, including a Haggadah belonging to the Rothchilds family in the 15th century.

 Below is a massive model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple time period.
